Who are we?
We are a team of engineers with a strong experience in energy systems, with particular focus on planning of district heating and cooling networks.
We also develop optimization tools for designing, operating and controlling highly integrated energy systems.
We apply our consulting strategies to industrial cases and we propose innovative, efficient and cost-saving solutions.
Our strengths : thermal networks, energy systems consulting, optimization tools.
|CEO Alberto MIAN||Dr Alberto Mian is an energy engineer. Alberto got his master degree with honors from “Università degli studi di Padova” in 2012. He completed his PhD in Energy in 2016, with specialization in numerical optimization of chemical and energy systems design at the Swiss Institute of Technology (EPFL). He acquired experience in software modelling and optimization of industrial systems, including renewable energy technologies.
Alberto has been working in collaboration with EPFL and ABB Switzerland from February 2016 to March 2018. He has developed computer aided tools for the optimization of complex thermal energy networks, and he has been involved in the development of a Swiss clean-tech company (TreaTech), developing an innovative wastewater treating technology.
|CTO Luc GIRARDIN||Dr Luc Girardin joined the Industrial Process and Energy Systems Engineering (IPESE)
as a Scientist in April 2016 where he is performing R&D in Urban Energy Systems.
Prior to working at IPESE, he worked at BG Consulting Engineers in Geneva where he performed as a senior project engineer in Territorial Energy Planning.
Luc Girardin holds a masters in mechanical engineering and doctorate of science from the Swiss Federal institute of Technology in Lausanne, where he developed a geographical information based system for the evaluation of integrated energy conversion systems in urban areas (EnerGis).
|Prof Daniel Favrat Daniel Favrat got his Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from EPFL in 1972 and his PhD also from EPFL. He then spent 12 years in industrial research laboratories in Canada (Esso Canada) and Switzerland (CERAC : Centre Européen de Recherche Atlas Copco).
From 1988 to 2013, he was a full professor and director of the Industrial Energy Systems Laboratory (LENI) at EPFL. During that period, he has also taken on the roles of the director of the Institute of Energy and director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. Since August 2013 he worked at EPFL Energy Center, first as director ad interim and now as director of technologies.
He is a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences and of the National Academy of Technology in France. He has also an active participation in the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), as a member of the executive committee and vice-chair of the energy committee. He is associate editor of the journal “Energy” and of the International Journal of thermodynamics as well as the author of several books. He is an affiliate professor at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.
